Yes, BBCode works here.  Very limited HTML does as well.  The reason there aren't any buttons or anything to insert BBCode or apply it to selected text or whatever is that lulzbb is very incomplete and lacks a lot of things other forums have, yet at the same time doesn't use a database that's 100% compatible with anything else so it's not easily migratable to anything better (like, say, SMF).

So, BBCode.  Note that there is no post preview feature, however, there is a post edit feature, so you can just edit your post until it looks right.

Bold: [b]bold text[/b]
Produces: bold text
HTML works.

Italics: [i]italic text[/i]
Produces: italic text
HTML works.

Underline: [u]underlined text[/u]
Produces: underlined text
HTML works.

Strikethrough (just use HTML): <s>struck through text</s>
Produces: struck through text

Note that URLs in posts are not automatically turned into links.  If you find that a URL you posted has been turned into a link, it's because I edited your post.  lol

Other things which are useful but aren't BBCode:

You can quick-reference a post using its post ID.  Every post's ID is shown at the top, next to the timestamp.  In fact, clicking it will insert a reference into the quick reply box for you, but in case you want to type your own, simply type >> followed by the post ID, with no space before the post ID.

You can use MediaWiki style markup to link to Wikipedia.  There are two styles of links:

Simple link: [[Anime]]
Produces: Anime

Link with custom text: [[Anime|Japanese animation]]
Produces: Japanese animation

Read More split:
This only works in the first post of a thread in the News board.

[readmore]

The portion of the post before that tag will be shown on the front page, and will generate a message telling viewers to click the Comments link to read the full post.  Since only a limited number of people can post new threads in the News board, this is only really relevant to them, but for really long posts, it should be used.
