Was hanging out with Jacob tonight and he let me he'd heard something about the festival charging people to get in this year. 

After going through the convoluted maze of a website I finally found the page for the street fest.

They are in fact listing a $5 charge to get in this time around.  Hopefully that'll discourage some of the overcrowding we've seen before, but that may also discourage some of our own.  Better to know now than before making the trip.

Also to make sure everyone is aware here is the bloom schedule.  Once again peak bloom is the weekend before the actual street fest and by the time we get there not much will be left to look at on the actual trees. 

If the trees are what matter some people might want to go up next weekend instead.  If the street fest is what matters, it's good for people to know they'll have an extra $5 to pony up on top of chipping in for gas, their metro ride, and overpriced food.

Well, not big deal either way, and Haruhi knows how much work the Japanese-American organization have to do to organize this, I just hope it *does* actually whittle down the crowd a bit...

I'm happy they're doing this because they're donating a portion of it to helping out Japan.

(Also, eight dollar taiyaki? Holy crap, it costs about 100¥ in my favorite computer game...)

If you are interested in looking at the pink/white fluffy flowers, there are a bunch around university hall.  The petals are just starting to fall, so it is like pink snow.

I don't park in the driveway during springtime anymore, because back when I did my car would be pink every spring.
