also in Fate/extra *Assassin punched Saber so hard her mana circuits disconnected *Saber is out of mana *Rin steps in *Not-so-subtly implied yuri ensues (and slightly implied 'three-way' given the brief thing between Rin and protagonist) (Unfortunately Paul, no CG horses were seen xP --- the dungeon that level had LOTS OF FISH though :3) *Saber's mana has been recharged! (and Rin is extremely tired for the rest of the day)
Yep. Goddamit Nasu xD Female protagonist too... they didn't even bother rewriting much as far as I can tell.

thought that episode was completely out of sync with the rest, can't understand Rin's motive for putting everything at risk. maybe I just lack fate stay night background?
b/c the protagonist is saber and her gang. if berserker is to get love (which I agree), caster should get his love for teaching all the naughty children a lesson and save Santa some trouble. lets condone his pure love for saber aye

Why does this look so good? Part of me wishes that this is what had been made as opposed to the Fate/Stay Night that exists now.

Do you mean the FSN anime or the VN? In before Heaven's Feel.
As a writer myself I can understand what Nasu was thinking. When you go back to old stuff sometimes you're filled with this odd mix of nostalgia and love for your old work but realize that although some of it is still good other parts suck. Then suddenly you end up rewriting the whole thing and it looks different from the original. (Sorry, I felt like saying this since that's what I'm doing now)
But having said that I would so watch this too.
