I've been wanting this game for a while but I've been holding off on it. However after downloading and playing the demo I'm starting to get impatient and might just go ahead and buy it for my MoonBox for a mere $25. The problem is that the super-duper PS3 version will be coming out in Japan September 17 and the new additions sound like they are worth the extra price: * Full voice acting * Tie-ins with Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike * New playable character (Patty Fleur) * Flynn as a fully customizable, playable character * Repede and Flynn as selectable on-screen avatars * New cutscenes * New subplots * New main game quests * New sidequests * New songs * New towns * Remodeled towns * New dungeons * New bosses (including the Sword Dancer) * Boss fight replays at Nam Cobanda Isle (in an area called the Door of Memories) * New Overlimit Levels 5 and 6 * New Hi Ougi/Mystic Artes (including a dual Mystic Arte with Yuri and Flynn) * New Artes * New Skills * New Equipment * A Key Item known as the "Artes Ball," which allows characters to assign up to 8 Artes to the left stick, and 8 Arte Shortcuts to the right stick for a new maximum of 16 Artes. * New Costumes * New Skits * A scene-skip feature * Connectivity with Tales of VS * Pre-Order Bonus (Abyss character costumes for Yuri, Flynn, and Estelle) Of course that also means it will be a while before a US release though that doesn't really matter to me since I'd just be trading Japanese voices (NAKAHARA MAI!!)(+) for a little less than complete understanding of dialogue (-). In the end this is probably just me ranting. Unless BanNam announces a US release in the near future I think I'll just go ahead and buy it so I can force people to play with me. Thoughts? PS: Playing as Rita (brown-haired girl) is pretty awesome.

Well, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Bandai Namco has been pretty awful about releasing Tales remakes outside Japan - other than the Phantasia GBA game (which was Nintendo and not Namco producing), we've gotten zero of the remakes and director's cut versions, including the sexyawesome PS2 versions of Symphonia and the Destiny Director's Cut. So I'd avoid waiting for a US release of the PS3 version. And the PS3 vs. 360 versions in general, well, it depends on how much you like loli pirates I guess. These additions to the PS3 version seem pretty extensive, though. I'd go for the PS3 version just because I don't like the 360's D-pad or jeweled buttons. EDIT: I sincerely hope that Patty Fleur isn't just a modern version of Chat from Eternia. Bitch was fucking unnecessary.

I'd just buy an English-language release. All those shiny extras won't be worth as much if you don't understand what the hell the plot is and what the menus mean in the first place. It's also going to be harder to convince other people to play with you (myself included) if they can't understand what's going on in between fights. Also, buying the Xbox version now will save you money and, with its dearth of extra features, time as well. You know, none of us have a surplus of either of those... And really, you're still getting the same core Vesperia game, which is great no matter what. If the PS3 version ever sees a U.S. release, then you can just rage the way I did when Persona 3: FES came out.

VESPERIA. OhmyGodIfuckinglovethisgame. Anyway, I'd say get the English version for now, and then make Dave get the PS3 version if it ever comes to America. What are friends for, right? And I heard you can play as Flynn (briefly) in the updated version, so I'm praying to Haruhi that it gets translated. Spoilers: Yuri Lowell is an outlaw vigilante who punches girls in the face. And Repede is a badass sidekick dog who smokes a pipe.

Does that mean you wanna come play with me? ;_; I'll probably order this in a few days and send it to my room so that I can play a little bit before classes start up for real. Too bad I'll be missing the Japanese VAs since Rita is voiced by Morinaga Rika AKA Mako-chan!!

Sure, but you'll probably laugh at how bad I am at this game. Rita might show up in the movie. Maybe. I'm not really sure what the movie is about. All I know is that Mamoru Miyano voices Flynn, and that's enough for me (totally not obsessed). Also, Rita is the one thing that makes Estelle bearable, in my opinion.

...Maybe I should be looking for jobs in Charlottesville if it means I can have some multiplayer Tales coming at me. I haven't had a willing Tales multiplayer partner since my first-year roommates five years ago, right when Symphonia came out.

You should really consider it. I bet there are a bunch of people including me who would love to hang out with you some more. Anyways looks like we have a 3-4 person party already. Looking at the team I'm pretty sure we can make up for your lack of skill KingofAllCosmos. That or we make you a dedicated healer lol. I'm pretty sure everyone knows who I call dips on. And if there is a character that plays similarly to Presea (so freaking awesome) then I call that too.

Jesus Christ, if I have to be Estelle I will shoot myself in the face. If Citrus takes Yuri, I'll probably take one of the other melee characters... Repede, maybe Judith. And I think Karol might play like Presea (I've never actually used her)... They both wield the same weapon type and are around the same age. By the way, all the playable guy characters have girly names. And, Sollosi, you should visit us in Charlottesville every once in awhile even if you don't get a job there.

Order in. Package should arrive in 5-10 business days so whoever picks it up in the mail, could you just stick the box on top of my desk? Anyway it looks like things are set for us to start gaming once everyone is here. I think that Dave will probably be our 4th member unless Lazzie does find his way back in town. Of course we might have a controller issue since I only have one and Hark has at least one we can borrow. And honestly I can play as Estelle if it means we have a healer because there is no way I will be fighting bosses unless I have someone ready to heal everyone at all times. I can play her decently from what I've tried so I just need to get used to healing. Original post by KingofAllCosmos And I think Karol might play like Presea (I've never actually used her)... They both wield the same weapon type and are around the same age. By the way, all the playable guy characters have girly names. Maybe. It depends on how invincible he is compared to Presea. I loaded up my perfect save file of Symphonia and she had the highest attack, defense and HP in the entire party plus boots to make her super fast and EX skills that made her a beast. PS: What's up with all the fanart with him in a dress? Please tell me there are trap shenanigans with Karol later on!

Damit I haven't checked here for too long... but DAM RIGHT I'M JOINING, in case you forgot our conversation earlier this summer about Verperia Honya... although I thought we wanted to wait till a PS3 version comes out in the states... ? But yes Alex I will be getting it. No clue on what the cast is yet, might do some looking up later. I usually play a ranged character / caster though, mostly as my melee responses are shit (and also cause I'm used to Star Ocean char designs where the damage-dealer is a lightweight).
